You get an itemised invoice showing labour and parts separately. Nothing gets added that you didn't approve.

Engine repair
Misfires, rough idle, overheating, oil leaks, timing components, belts and sensors. Engine work is the bulk of what I do.
Car won't start
Batteries, alternators, starters and no-crank diagnosis. If it's dead in the driveway, this is the call to make.
Brakes
Pads, rotors, calipers, brake fluid and that grinding noise you've been ignoring for two weeks.
Oil & fluid changes
Conventional, synthetic blend or full synthetic, plus filters, coolant and other fluid services.
Check engine light
Proper scan-tool diagnosis, then a plain-English explanation of what the code actually means before anything gets replaced.
Pre-purchase inspection
Buying used off Marketplace or Kijiji? I'll meet you at the seller and tell you honestly whether to walk away.
